At the behest of His Majesty, 6 hawks were procured to protect the perimeter of the Hasan 2 mosque in Casablanca from birds and the ruinous effects of their nests on its architecture.
These vigilant sentinels – a bane to sparrows, pigeons, crows and wrens – are housed in aviaries positioned at the highest point of the minaret (tiny windows). Have you noticed that you never see any birds around or on the mosque? Please comment with the estimated cost of all 6 “guards“.
